Toucans are actually an endangered species due to their habitat being destroyed with the removal of huge chunks of rainforest, but as toucans adapt so quickly they are able to survive.

There were once 9 subspecies of tigers: Bengal, Siberian, Indochinese, South Chinese, Sumatran, Malayan, Caspian, Javan and Bali. The last 3 are extinct, one is extinct in the wild, and the rest are endangered.

Anophthalmus hitleri is a blind beetle found only in five caves in Slovenia. Named after Hitler in 1933, it is now endangered due to collectors of Nazi memorabilia.
